Harris Manufacturing Co. is founded by William Pond Harris in Johnson City, Tennessee
1898
The small lumber company focused on supplying construction materials to the building industry
1902
Allen Harris, son of William Harris, drove business with marketing parquet strip flooring in New York City
1914-1945
WORLD WARS I/II and GREAT DEPRESSION YEARS:
Boom or bust housing markets lead Harris to manufacture various products such as on-base Army house flooring, persimmon golf club shafts, cannon rods, wagon wheel spokes, broom handles, 22 million tent stakes, dummy shells, and military Radio Promixity Fuse Projectors
1930s
Expanded manufacturing Unfinished Tongue & Groove Solid Strip and Plank flooring capabilities
1952
Began manufacturing Unfinished Bondwood Parquet which came to be one of the most popular flooring choices with hundreds of millions of square feet installed all over the world
1980s
Began manufacturing Engineeered Tongue & Groove Plank Flooring Installed UV Cured Urethane prefinishing line for Solid and Engineered flooring
1989
Major expansion by building a new $40 million state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Johnson City, TN
1990s
Began manufacturing of Prefinished “Longstrip” Engineered flooring in new facility
2007
Introduced new VALINGE 5G manufacturing capability which led to the introduction of a glueless locking engineered product line
2010
Acquired by Q.E.P. Co., Inc. allowing Harris Wood to return to its roots as a leading hardwood flooring supplier
Introduced FinishLoc advanced system to “Loc” in and protect the finish
2012
Expanded product offering with Natural Cork Engineered Plank
2014
Obtained FloorScore Certification for all Harris Wood Products
